Dr. Frederick Gooding, Jr. Earns Senior Research Fellowship at National Gallery of Art
Dr. Frederick W. Gooding, Jr., associate professor of African American studies in the John V. Roach Honors College at Texas Christian University, has been named a Leonard A. Lauder Visiting Senior Fellow by the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. for the period of June 15 through August 15, 2021.

In early 2019, Banks’ home studio in Atlanta canceled classes to allow dancers a chance to attend open auditions for a movie directed by Debbie Allen that would begin filming in the summer, “Dolly Parton’s Christmas on the Square.”

Honors professor builds connections with students in and outside of the classroom
Honors professor of humanities Dr. Dan Williams’ work with the College (then the Honors Program) began in the early 2000s when he worked to schedule Honors courses with Dr. Peggy Watson (the director of the Honors Program from 2003 until 2009, when she became the founding dean). Though he worked closely with Watson for a number of years, he did not officially become a part of the College until 2012.

Vanesa Gjeçi, a senior Honors student majoring in Interior Design with an Architectural Lighting Design minor, chose to craft her Departmental Honors project as a tool for advocacy and education instead of a strictly creative project because, to her, there is no better time than now to devote her work and intelligence to advocacy.

She designed her course, “Games and Learning” to provide students with a unique virtual experience that she hopes will keep them both enthused about and engaged in the material.
