John V. Roach Honors College academic advisor, Justine Grace, has been named TCU's
2026 Advisor of the Year, in recognition of her dedication to student success and
meaningful mentorship.
Grace earned her Bachelor of Arts in journalism and political science from TCU in 2016, where she was also named a John V. Roach Honors Laureate, before returning to campus in 2018 to join the Roach Honors advising team. Since then, she has become a trusted resource for students navigating academic decisions and personal goals.
Colleagues and students note that her dependable presence and thoughtful approach are what set her apart.
“Justine is a continual, steadfast, bright personality who never hesitates to assist her peers or students,” said fellow advisor Cecily Weir-Jaeger. “Her warm presence and calming demeanor invite students to feel safe when meeting with her, while also giving them the tools to learn to ‘fish’ for themselves, cultivating truly holistic students.”
That balance of support and empowerment is something her colleagues notice as well.
“Justine is an amazing person to work with as part of the John V. Roach Honors Advising Team,” said advisor Melinda Santos. “She never hesitates to stop and answer questions I have in support of our students. She is passionate about helping students find the best ways to achieve their goals.”
For students, Grace’s impact often goes far beyond just course planning.
“Justine is someone who you can tell genuinely cares about the students she interacts with,” said Roach Honors fourth-year Abigail Steffan. “Not only is she good at her job, but she takes the time to listen and talk to us about our interests, the things we're passionate about, and our goals. She is someone who I know will always be in my corner!”
