After beginning at TCU on the pre-med track, Hallie Corinne Frist realized her path wasn’t in providing physical care but in serving others through business. Now graduating with a major in business finance and minors in Spanish and Hispanic studies, the Nashville, Tennessee, native has found a way to combine analytical thinking with relationship building to serve others in a different, but equally meaningful way.

“Through studying finance, I’ve learned how to manage and grow resources that can meaningfully impact people’s lives and long-term goals,” Frist said.

During her time in the John V. Roach Honors College, Frist embraced opportunities that pushed her outside her comfort zone. One of her most memorable experiences was in Professor Sarah Vartabedian’s “Perfecting Your Pitch” course, where she delivered a fully memorized TED Talk–style presentation.

“Public speaking has gone from something I used to run from to something I now actually enjoy,” she said.

“My advisor, Justine Grace, played a huge role in my Honors experience,” Frist said. “She worked so hard to set me up for success each semester and helped make my time at TCU incredibly smooth and meaningful.”

After graduation, Frist plans to return to Nashville to continue her education at Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management, where she will pursue a Master of Science in Finance. She will spend this summer as an investment banking intern at Silvermark Partners.

Her advice to incoming Honors students is simple: embrace the challenge.

“Get out of your comfort zone and take courses that push you,” she said. “It might feel intimidating at first, but it can end up being one of the most valuable parts of your experience.”
