In the 2018-2019 school year, TCU had eight Honors students and alumni named as semi-finalists in the Fulbright Scholar Program. The John V. Roach Honors College is excited and proud to announce that three graduating seniors have earned the distinction of Fulbright Scholar:
Caroline Jones, a double major in Political Science and Design Studies, is a future Honors Laureate. She will work as an English Teaching Assistant in India, where she hopes to use her experience as a classical ballet dancer and background in art to develop creative learning spaces and experiences with Indian students.
Michelle Nguyen, a double major in Youth Advocacy & Educational Studies and Comparative Race & Ethnic Studies, is a future Honors Laureate. She will serve as an English Teaching Assistant in Indonesia, where she aspires to utilize inclusive teaching practices and to learn about how to be a change agent aimed at improving systems of education all over the world.
Cooper Gould, a double major in Mechanical Engineering and Mathematics, is a future Honors Laureate. Cooper received a research award that will allow him to work with Professor François Avellan in his Laboratory for Hydraulic Machines at the Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, Switzerland. During his time there, he will investigate the mechanics and hydraulics of a morphing airplane winglet through an iterative design, build, and test process. His research will build off his Honors thesis in Engineering and is also informed by his work with NASA, where he interned last summer.
