Gratitude in Action: A Lesson Beyond the Classroom
The John V. Roach Honors College offered a new course designed for first-year students titled The Rhetoric of Gratitude. Students in the course explored the meaning and impact of gratitude on individuals and communities. As part of their learning, students worked with non-profit organizations to identify and nominate community heroes – selfless individuals who give meaningfully and without hesitation to serve people in need. The culmination of the course involved celebrating these volunteers with a surprise announcement and donation to the non-profit in honor of their contributions to the community.

Emma Sullivan is a senior biology major and Clark Society Scholar, who is dedicated to improving health equity and addressing food insecurity. Abby Salopek Named Assistant Professor of Digital Studies
