Honors Students Awarded SERC Grants

October 25, 2018

This fall, 22 Honors students received undergraduate research grants from the Science and Engineering Research Center (SERC) at the TCU College of Science & Engineering. Honors students represented a majority of the grants awarded in the areas of biology, chemistry and biochemistry, engineering and psychology.

The Honors College is a strong supporter of undergraduate research and encourages all Honors students to explore the complexities of knowledge through inquiry and research. In fact, six of the recipients are seniors pursuing Departmental Honors – undergraduate research projects that fulfill upper-division Honors requirements – and will present their research during Honors Week in April as a part of the requirements to graduate with an Honors Laureate distinction.

The SERC Undergraduate Research Grant Program provides support to undergraduate students engaged in research with their faculty mentors. Awards range from $500 to $1,500, depending on the needs of the project.

The John V. Roach Honors College also offers multiple grant opportunities for undergraduate research throughout the year. To learn more, visit our Grants and Awards page.
