Honors Student Lands World Health Organization Internship

May 31, 2017

Crysta Coomer, a senior nursing major and member of the Honors College, was selected for the World Health Organization (WHO) Internship Programme at Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. Following an extremely competitive application review process, Coomer received an invitation to interview and was subsequently offered the position, a rarity for undergraduate students. Coomer is thrilled about the opportunity to intern at WHO Headquarters, where she will spend six weeks this summer working on research for the HIV/AIDS department. She will assist the key population and innovative prevention team in the collection and categorization of health care worker sensitization and stigma reduction training tools that are currently used in low- and middle-income countries. This will be Coomer’s first experience abroad, and in addition to her exciting work, she is looking forward to living in Geneva and interacting with a different culture.

We look forward to hearing more about Coomer’s experiences when she returns to TCU for the fall semester.
