The John V. Roach Honors College is pleased to announce that Colby Birdsell, previously an Academic Advisor for the college, has accepted the position of Honors College Coordinator. Birdsell will be taking over for Lauren Nixon, who has moved to a position in the Chancellor’s Office, where she will be focusing on Government Affairs and the Chancellor’s Scholars program.
Birdsell graduated with University Honors from TCU in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and completed a Master of Arts in History from TCU in 2010. During her graduate work at the university, she wrote a thesis that studied women’s historical roles in the Add-Ran College, exploring “the importance of women…as supporters, administrators, and faculty members.” This thesis, “‘A Rare Combination of Advantages’: Women and Higher Education at Add-Ran College, 1973-1910,” marked Birdsell as not only a Master of History but a Master of TCU History as well. After graduating, Birdsell worked as a Dual Credit Specialist at Hill College before joining the John V. Roach Honors College as an Academic Advisor in 2012.
Birdsell will take over duties in the college that include planning events, organizing projects, representing the college at various functions, and managing the budget. She will bring her already impressive experience with the college into this new role, and we look forward to seeing her continue to thrive as a valuable member of the College.
Congratulations to Colby!
